farmhouse
Planting design for this farmhouse renovation in Granite Falls aimed to screen the north property line and create a buffer of vegetation between two future residences. The north planting area restores an existing soggy field to a forest, shrub and meadow habitat with seasonal interest through the use of native and adaptive species. Large swaths of yellow twig and red twig dogwood with pockets of wild rose and red flowering currant create winter and spring interest. A small footpath allows access to highbush blueberries and thimbleberry patches. A stylized meadow incorporating native rush and sedge species with an adaptive ornamental grass is speckled with milkweed, daylily, aster, native iris and mountain fleece flower.
